spaces and reasons
We create spaces to evoke feelings, but do we over complicate the process of the emotional journey for the user? Do architects really understand the emotional dynamics of the population at large? Does anyone beside ourselves really care about the built environment if it satisfies the id.

I don't think the process of the emotional journey for the user is over complicated; most times it is not thought about enough. We are the people inhabiting the spaces, so I feel like it is important that architects try to meet our emotional needs through a well thought out process for the user. Architects may not fully understand what those needs are for the population at large, but they understand to a certain extent and the effort is being made to accommodate those emotional needs.
ReplyDeleteI think that what your saying is that we need to build more to the emotional needs that people have when they enter built environments; but knowing the people that we know that are not in architecture do we find them trying to find meaning in the structures they enter, or do they look for their basic needs to be met. Do people really try to discover the subtle effects that the architect designed or do they try to associate the building with their preexisting experiences with structures they have already been to.
